On April 7th, 2026, after nearly a decade behind bars, I gained the chance to re-enter society. In 2016, only 10 months after an honorable discharge from the US Army, I robbed a bank in Birmingham, Michigan, and entered my journey to incarceration. While I was in prison, I finally hit rock bottom in a maximum security facility. While spending several months in administrative segregation, alone and broken at last, I decided that I would turn my life around and do the right thing from there on. I dedicated my mind and soul to putting some good into the world. I read every self-help book and chose to help other inmates who were struggling with drug abuse and their decisions.
I decided then that when I did come home, I would do two things. I would work on positive change in the Michigan Department of Corrections along with giving back to my community. I have already found a food pantry to donate my time and effort to, as well as a church. I also intend on helping elderly veterans with their property maintenance as the summer progresses. At this moment, I am in a circumstance where I do need help. From transportation to living costs associated with a regular lifestyle, I have fought my way from the bottom and anything will help me on my journey of positive change and influence.
