Please help me to help our neighbor in need. They are behind on rent due to the current circumstances in the city, and will lose their housing if they cannot pay. This is their story:
“We are a family of seven: five children and two adults. We came from Mexico, trying to give our children a better life by escaping the violence in Guerrero, Mexico. In Guerrero, young children have to arm themselves to protect against the traffickers.
We arrived in Minnesota full of joy seeking a better life. South Minneapolis embraced us, a city full of warm people who didn't judge us for our origins.
Everything started to change a month ago. Fear began to take hold of us. We started suffering harassment and racism. We stopped working and started hiding. My children started to feel afraid again. It's a great sadness and feeling of helplessness what's happening. The death of a wonderful person who stood up for us... Now my children cry and hug me, saying, 'Mom, we shouldn't go out. We could go hungry here, but we need you safe.' Now I'm suffering financially. I'm desperate, anxious, and stressed, wondering how much longer I can endure this situation."
Please help this family find community, compassion, and support while they find safety and rebuild their sense of security.
