Hello! I just got back from Guatemala and while I was there I met this little girl named Flor . We were walking and she just started walking with me and kept looking at me. (I think she was intrigued by me because I was probably the first American she has ever seen) I asked her name and she said Flor. I asked how she is and she said good. I asked where she lives and she said down. She continued to follow me for awhile. Just looking at me. I then gave her 20 quetzales (2.50 dollars) just a little something for her to buy a snack/treat. I wanted to give her my heart necklace, but she had already ran away. We came back and everyone knew that I had given her money and she was so happy and thankful. She wasn’t in the area so I asked about her and gave my silver heart necklace to a girl in her class to give her. We found out later that her and her family are very poor and do not even have a house with walls, only a roof. I want to raise money to send and my husband’s cousin, Elvin, will gather workers to donate their time and complete the work to build walls for their house. They also sleep on beds made of sticks, so I would also like to give them beds. Any amount of money is helpful! Flor is very sweet and left a lasting impression on my heart and I hope to do the same for her and her family.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. A donation of any amount is very appreciated and if you are unable to donate even just sharing this page is very helpful and appreciated!
