On Sunday, March 8th, 2026, my brother, David Welch, was seriously injured in a terrible car accident when another driver crossed into his lane and caused a near head-on collision with David’s car. The engine of David‘s car was pushed forward and crushed his leg and his hip, trapping him in the car, and shattering his femur badly in multiple areas. David underwent emergency surgery to have a rod placed into his leg for the bone to grow around it while healing, and we are waiting on a CT scan to learn what other damages have been caused by the accident. At this point in time, he will most definitely need physical therapy down the road and potentially more surgeries depending on his healing and the severity of his injuries as a whole.

David is a dedicated and proud firefighter with both Clay Township and Marine City fire departments in Michigan. He will be unable to work for an indeterminate amount of time due to his injuries, and he has 4 young children to take care of (three of the kids were in the car at the time of the accident, but thankfully are okay).

We are raising money for any immediate expenses he has coming up in the next few months while we wait for insurance to come through. At this point in time, it is not known how long he will be unable to work, and we want to ensure there is no stress for him with managing his finances and taking care of his children.
