Each year, Fifth Street Renaissance hosts the Campout for Homeless Veterans to shine a light on a crisis that too often remains in the shadows - the number of Veterans in our community who are without a safe place to call home. This year marks our 8th Annual Campout, and our mission is more urgent than ever.
We gather outside for one night to stand in solidarity with the men and women who served our country but now find themselves struggling with homelessness. We do this by educating the community about the trauma of homelessness faced by our Veterans. While it’s only one night for us, for too many Veterans it’s a nightly reality. The Campout is not just about awareness — it’s about action.
Funds raised through this event directly support our Veterans’ housing programs, including Spring Street Veterans Renaissance (men) and Veterans Family Renaissance (VFR), one of the only facilities in Illinois dedicated to serving female Veterans and Veterans with children. We provide safe housing, case management, job and income support, and the dignity every Veteran deserves. With community support, we’ve been able to keep doors open, families together, and lives moving forward.
This year, the need is even greater. We are working to meet the rising demand for services, and ensure no Veteran is left behind. By donating, you’re not just giving money — you’re providing warm beds, safe shelter, stability, and hope to those who have already given so much for us.
We invite you to support the 8th Annual Campout for Homeless Veterans — whether through a donation, sharing this campaign, or joining us at the event. Together, we can honor their service by ensuring they are not forgotten.
Every gift matters. Every Veteran counts.
