Help Us Raise $$ for a New Home & 4,000 Sq. Ft. Commissary Kitchen
In 2023, Feed-Well Fridges began with a simple but powerful idea:
Rescue good food and keep it out of the landfill. Prepare nutritious meals. Place them in community fridges so anyone can eat — no questions asked.
What started inside a borrowed corner of Café Root Cellar in Pittsboro, NC , has grown into something much bigger than we imagined.
Because of community support, we have:
- Rescued and diverted 265,000+ pounds of surplus edible food away from landfills
- Prepared and distributed 80,000+ chef-made meals
- Stocked 6 community fridges across Chatham County
- Served families, seniors, children, and neighbors facing food insecurity
But we’ve reached our limit. Our nonprofit currently operates out of Food Network Star Chef Sera Cuni's restaurant kitchen space. We are out of cold storage and prep space. Out of room to grow.
Meanwhile, the need to address food insecurity in our community and state increases.
The Vision: A 4,000 Sq. Ft. Permanent Home for Feed-Well
We are raising $400,000 to build and equip a dedicated Feed-Well Fridges facility: a 4,000-square-foot commissary kitchen and food rescue hub. This building will allow us to:
- Increase production from 3,000 to 5,000+ meals per month
- Increase the amount of surplus edible food we rescue from grocery stores, farms, restaurants and other retail outlets (from 15,000 lbs to 30,000+ lbs per month)
- Expand our community fridge network across the state of NC
- Add critical walk-in refrigeration and freezer storage
- Improve food safety, volunteer efficiency, and operational capacity
- Scale our environmental impact by reducing commercial food waste
This is not just a kitchen. It is infrastructure for dignity, sustainability, and community health.
What Your Gift Does
- $25 provides containers for 50 prepared meals
- $100 helps equip cold storage shelving
- $500 supports one day of meal production
- $1,000 helps fund commercial kitchen equipment
- $5,000+ helps build the foundation of our permanent home
Every dollar moves us closer to expanding our community fridge program across the North Carolina.
Be Part of the Forever Home
Feed-Well Fridges was built by our community. Now we’re asking you to help us build the forever home that will allow us to rescue more edible surplus food and save our environment, prepare more meals, and serve more neighbors for years to come.
If you believe that good food should never go to waste — and that everyone deserves access to it — please donate and share this campaign.
Let’s build something that lasts.
