I am writing with deep concern and urgency regarding the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Mt. Peace, Hanover, Jamaica. Our small rural community was struck with overwhelming force, and many families, including my own loved ones, are now facing severe hardship. Homes were torn apart, roofs were ripped off, and belongings that took a lifetime to build were destroyed within moments.
Several families are now without shelter, clothing, food, and basic necessities. Many have only the clothes they survived in and are relying solely on faith and the support of one another. The emotional and physical toll has been immense, and the road to recovery will be long and difficult.
This fundraiser has been created to support my family and neighbors who have been impacted. Funds raised will help to:
• Secure temporary shelter and emergency supplies
• Provide food, clean water, and clothing
• Assist with repairing and rebuilding damaged homes
• Replace essential household items lost in the storm
• Support elderly residents, children, and the most vulnerable in our community
Mt. Peace is a humble, close-knit community filled with hardworking families who did not deserve this tragedy. In this moment of crisis, they need compassion, relief, and hope. Any support you can offer will make a meaningful difference in helping them recover and rebuild. No contribution is too small. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign so it can reach others who may be able to help.
Your generosity, prayers, and kindness mean more than words can express during this painful time. Thank you for standing with the families of Mt. Peace as they begin the long process of healing and rebuilding.
A few family members will be going down to ensure the money is distributed directly into the hands of the community so that they can start rebuilding.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Shamarie Wilson and Family from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Thank you for your support.
