Hello friends,

My name is Ezu Brook, and I’m about to turn 17 years old.

This year, instead of receiving gifts for my birthday, I want to use this moment to support children who are in desperate need. More than 5 million children in Ethiopia, particularly in the Amhara region, are currently facing starvation due to the ongoing civil war and humanitarian crisis.

Why This Matters to Me

Both of my parents were born in Ethiopia but grew up in the United States. I’ve had the chance to visit Ethiopia a couple of times, and I’ve seen what a beautiful country it is, rich in culture, deeply rooted in both Christian and Muslim traditions and home to some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. No child should go to bed hungry, let alone starve, especially not because of circumstances beyond their control.
