The Exploration Discovery Center (EDC) has quietly become part of the daily rhythm of life for so many families in our community. It’s a safe and inspiring space where children can explore, learn, and play — and where working parents trust us as a consistent, enriching place for their nannies and caregivers to bring their kids.

Beyond our daily programs, the EDC serves as a true community gathering place. From Zoo to You to the Cal Poly Lion Dancers during Chinese New Year, our family-friendly events bring people together to learn, celebrate, and connect. These moments remind us that the EDC is more than just a building — it’s a shared space that strengthens the fabric of family life throughout the Five Cities and San Luis Obispo County.

Unfortunately, the EDC is now facing serious financial challenges. We’ve done everything possible to stretch our limited resources — cutting costs, reducing hours, and even implementing staff reductions. But those measures can only go so far. The need is real, and we cannot sustain this vital community space without your help.
