As you may know by now, Jaime & Miriam welcomed their miracle baby girl, Everly Jade Velasquez, at just 23 weeks gestation on September 29, 2024. She weighed only 14 oz, she is tiny but so mighty. While they are over the moon in love with their baby girl and being her parents, there’s no doubt that their journey in the NICU has been challenging for all 3 of them and nonetheless overwhelming. We are beyond grateful to God that little Miss Everly Jade has been thriving due to her strength and truly being a fighter, fighting just as much as her mommy and daddy have fought over and over and over again to have her here. She is our entire family’s little warrior and we are all graciously waiting for the day that she is able to be home.
While everything was going great during Miriam’s pregnancy, our family had began to plan a very well deserved baby shower for Miriam and Jaime. We were looking forward to have all of their loved ones gather together to shower Everly Jade with so much love. That baby shower would have been this Saturday, November 16, 2024. We do plan to have a beautiful welcome home celebration in the future, but for now it is time for Miriam and Jaime to start prepping for the day they can bring their baby girl home. On what would’ve been her baby shower day, Everly will hit the big milestone of being 30 weeks gestation, so when a nurse recently asked Miriam and Jaime if they had her car seat for when the time comes, they realized they needed to start looking into getting all the baby necessities as each day that passes is one day closer to the big day, her NICU graduation.
Though they have continuously fought to focus on the positives, they will continue to face many challenges in their journey emotionally, physically, mentally and financially. Both Miriam and Jaime have completely devoted their entire days and nights to being by their baby girl’s side to advocate for her in each and every way, therefore, they have not been working (and the process of obtaining benefits just sucks) or in fact doing anything else besides being at the hospital every single day. They have also had additional financial responsibilities due to the process and while they are never ever the ones to ask for anyone’s help cause they just figure it out, I know that any help at all would help them tremendously.
Although Miriam would completely stop our family from doing this as she tends to get shy or embarrassed, I feel that this is something we can do to show our support as the people who truly love and care about them– think of it as a virtual baby shower. Thank you in advance for your generosity, support, and for contributing to helping them get all of Everly’s baby things. Blessings!
