Please Help Us to Continue Our Care of Estelle

Hello community, friends, family of Estelle. Since I first reached out a few months ago so much has happened. Around the middle of June Estelle suffered a stroke and the money that you all so graciously donated has been spent on paying companions to be with her 6 hours a day (3 in the morning and 3 at night). She is now under the care of Hospice of Santa Cruz and is still living at Brookdale Scotts Valley. the staff at Brookdale do care for her but nothing can replace the companions who help her to navigate her day. They understand that we will be reducing their hours and their rate of pay now that things have stabilized but without community support we cannot sustain this level of care.

I’m reaching out to all of you to ask you to please consider contributing again to our fund. The companion schedule has been priceless and we are loathe to bring that to a halt or even to a trickle. Her kids have been out a couple of times since and dealing with insurance, long-term care and assisted living facility is not only expensive, it is using the resources available to the family for the time being.

ANY amount is helpful; please don’t discount this important fact. It all adds up and is out to the absolute best use.

To those of you who love our Estelle, please consider contributing whatever amount you are able to help us move her into her new assisted living home sooner than later. She had a fall a few weeks ago and is not only still recovering from her injuries, but she is preparing to make a big change to move from her beloved cabin to assisted living. Her children are actively involved in this next stage of her life but we cannot move Estelle until she’s able to do certain activities independently because the add-on costs are beyond the budget. We are raising money to help cover the additional costs associated with the help she needs just for two months. Most of you know how to reach me.
