Hello everyone,
My name is Frances, and I’m the youngest daughter of Erica (also known as EK) Williams. She is a 65-year-old mother of three and my biggest supporter. In June of this year, she was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer after her doctor discovered a mass in her right lung. The news was shocking and life-changing for our family.
If you’ve met my mom, you might remember the pink streaks in her hair (long before it was trendy), seeing her walking the halls of Rye High School as a security guard, or having a conversation where you felt truly listened to. If you had a problem, she’d ask, “What can we do for you?” If you needed a place to stay, she’d make room without hesitation. I’m endlessly grateful that she raised me with empathy, compassion, generosity, and kindness. These are qualities I try to carry forward every day.
Unfortunately, cancer does not discriminate.
After her diagnosis, I made the decision to leave my full-time job so I could focus on supporting her through treatment and daily life. Since then, my attention has been on appointments, logistics, and making sure she’s not facing this alone.
After four rounds of chemo, 35 days of radiation, and multiple ER visits, there was a brief pause in treatment that allowed me to take stock of everything else. I realized how unstable things had become. I don’t have my own vehicle, housing has been uncertain, and financial responsibilities have continued to pile up.
I’m starting this fundraiser because we’re in a transition period, and I’m trying to put a few essential pieces in place so my mom can keep focusing on healing. The $15,000 goal is meant to give us some breathing room to stabilize housing, transportation, and daily expenses, so we can focus on treatment, routine, and moving forward.
My hope is that with this support, I can get back on my feet, return to the workforce, and spend meaningful time with my mom without the constant worry of what next week is going to bring. Most importantly, I want her to have the stability and peace of mind she deserves while fighting this disease and continuing to live a full, meaningful life.
Thank you for reading, for caring about my mom, and for any support, whether that’s donating, sharing, checking in or just including us in your prayers. It truly means more than I can express.
Thank you x
