The International Association of Young Lawyers is pleased to launch an initiative to raise funds for Avocats Sans Frontières, in commemoration of the Day of the Endangered Lawyer (DEL).
The Day of the Endangered Lawyer takes place each year on 24 January and is supported by an international coalition of legal organisations, of which AIJA is a member. The initiative aims to draw attention to the situation of lawyers who are threatened, harassed, or otherwise put under pressure for carrying out their professional duties.
In 2026, the Day of the Endangered Lawyer will focus on the situation of lawyers in the United States of America. A report will be published analysing the current state of the legal profession in the USA and the challenges and pressures faced by lawyers. Around this date, members of the coalition will organise various activities, including seminars, webinars, and public actions.
In this context, and continuing its long-standing commitment to human rights, the AIJA Human Rights Commission invites AIJA members, lawyers, as well as their friends and family, to take part in a collective sporting initiative in the weeks leading up to DEL 2026. All funds raised through this initiative will be donated to Avocats Sans Frontières in support of its work defending lawyers at risk and promoting access to justice.
