Support Emme's Children After Tragic Loss

Donation protected
In loving memory of Emme-ya Sims affectionately known as “Emme” , a vibrant soul taken from us far too soon. Though her time with us was brief, we celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. At just 27 years old, Emme's journey was tragically cut short by a senseless act of violence. She had the courage to walk away from an abusive relationship, seeking a better life for herself and her children. Despite her efforts to escape, her abuser could not accept her decision and selfishly took her life. Though her earthly presence is no longer with us, Emme's spirit and memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Emme was a remarkable young woman, full of talents and passions. She had a deep love for cooking and baking, always eager to lend a hand in the kitchen. Her brother fondly remembers her by saying “my sister can make a mean banana and chocolate cream pie," a testament to her culinary skills. Emme pursued academics in the culinary field and was recognized for her efforts. Her creativity extended beyond the kitchen, as she was also known for her talent in dying hair, often blessing her mom with bold and vibrant hairdo that was one of her signatures. Her son lovingly recalls, "my mommy loves hot pink and red," colors that perfectly captured her vibrant personality.

Emme's bold and outspoken nature made her a force to be reckoned with. She never shied away from speaking her truth and brought life to any room she entered. Yet, she also had moments of introspection, retreating into her inner silence, as her loved ones would say, "Chill." Emme loved music, often bopping to the rhythms that filled her soul. Despite her adulthood, she remained a kid at heart, finding joy in watching Spongebob and Powerpuff Girls.

In her recent professional life, Emme worked as a PCA in the medical field, dedicating herself to the care and comfort of others. Her compassion and commitment to her patients were evident in everything she did.

Emme leaves behind a legacy through her two beautiful children, her daughter Mozambique, affectionately known as Mozie, age 7, who is disabled and deaf, and her son Dakar, age 5. The loss of their mother is a heavy burden for such young hearts to bear. Dakar's innocent question, "So I don’t have a mommy anymore?" echoes the profound grief and confusion they must feel. It is in these moments that the support of a loving community becomes invaluable. Both Mozie and Dakar are now without their mother and fathers as Mozies father was killed and Dakar’s father is not present in his life. Emme's parents, Ingrid Ennis and William Sims has endlessly showered Emme’s children with love and they will now take on the responsibility of raising Mozie and Dakar for the rest of their lives, ensuring they have everything they need to live happy, healthy lives in a safe and nurturing environment.

As Emme's aunt, I recognize the importance of rallying around her children and providing the support they need. My sister may not have found the strength to ask for help, but I know that Emme, her parents, and her children would be forever grateful for any assistance extended to them. I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide, even just a share of this cause can go a long way and have a great impact.

As we remember Emme, let us celebrate the memories and honor her legacy of boldness, fearlessness, and love. Tomorrow is never promised, so let us cherish today. Tell your loved ones you love them, forgive, lend a helping hand, and live a life of gratitude. For if we wait for tomorrow, the burden of regret may become too heavy to carry, extend grace to yourself and others today.

Though Emme may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will forever live on in our hearts. To Emme, we say thank you for passing through this realm and bringing your realness into our lives. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Emme, and know that you will always be loved.

The family deeply appreciates all the prayers, comforting words, and kind gestures. Your support is making a difference.
