Support Emma's Nursing Mission in Ghana
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Emma, and I am a senior nursing student at Sacred Heart University. This October, I've been given the incredible opportunity to travel to Berekum, Ghana with a small group of nursing students for a Global Clinical Immersion trip. We'll be based at Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery Teaching College and Holy Family Hospital, a college and hospital campus in the Sunyani region of northwest Ghana.
During our time there, we’ll be caring for patients across the lifespan in both hospital settings and local schools. We’ll work alongside Ghanaian nurses, physicians, and nursing college faculty using native resources and practicing as part of an interprofessional team to support local communities. I know I’ll be learning so much, not just about healthcare, but about compassion, cultural humility, and what it truly means to care for others in a resource-limited setting.
Global education is something I care deeply about. As a future nurse, I want to understand how healthcare looks in different parts of the world and gain the skills needed to care for all kinds of people with empathy and cultural sensitivity. This trip is a meaningful opportunity for me to learn, grow, and give back to communities that need support.
I am raising funds to help cover travel costs, required vaccinations, and most importantly, to bring two full suitcases of donated medical supplies for the hospital and college we’ll be working with. Supplies like wound care materials, blood sugar monitors, hospital gowns, and more, are often difficult to access in the region, and I hope to bring as many as possible!
Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a real difference and help me make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you so much for your support!
