Support Emmas Mothers End of Life care

Hey Friends & Art lovers ! Ok… the time has come , Im asking for your support .

As my close friends will know , ive been in a difficult situation for a year now. My 92 year old Mother is at the end of her life . She’s been in & out of hospital & nursing homes with Strokes , advanced Dementia , falls & infections , every time we are told its the end , which has been really distressing ! We’ve managed to get her back to the family home where she is happier , but she requires 24 hour care now with 3 x nurse carer visits a day . Its a huge strain on my Brother who is alone with her . I need to support my family , & have been travelling up & down from Sussex to Devon every week to help . Its expensive , it costs me over £100 each time , which is a £400 + petrol expense each month . We are about to be hit with a further bill from the council for the 6 weeks in the nursing home & her 3 x a day at home carer visits , both of which were forced on us , we didn’t have a choice , and I dont yet know what that will be , it may be large ( like 1000 a week ! ) . We have no heating or hot water in the house as the boiler is broken so the electricity bill is nuts . We also have absolutely nothing saved for the funeral , I dont know how we will manage that .

At this delicate time of anticipatory grief , which is absolutely heart breaking , I really want to just be focused on the spiritual & emotional aspects of supporting her transition , and yet I’m always worrying about money ! The financial stress is huge .

I have beautiful new paintings & commissions I desperately want to finish , but I cant work effectively at my Mothers place , its too stressful , I need to work in the sanctuary of my studio in Sussex where I am settled. I cant move as im in debt , nor could I face the upheaval , I love my studio , my life is there . I have to travel back & forth every week , its the only way !

Caring for our relatives at their end of life is something we will all have to go through at some point , and yet its a topic hardly ever spoken about or shared .Indigenous tribes always care for their elderly at home as we are doing , with the help of the community , & consider it a sacred time.

Though this experience has been really heart breaking & traumatic , it has also been heart opening , with many tender moments of healing & profound connections . Singing all her old favourite jazz classics as speech therapy & feeding her Lions Mane has proved the best remedy . She even went into a spontaneous Hoponopono a few weeks ago !

I think I will come out the other side of this time forever changed ….a little softer maybe , more compassionate , & with endless gratitude for my Mother , the Universal Mother , & all who choose to support me in various ways right now !
