Support Emma’s Fresh Start Post Divorce

Hi friends,

As many of you know, Jon and I are in the process of divorcing after a long and painful season of marital challenges, including infidelity. This chapter has been incredibly difficult — emotionally, mentally, and financially — and while it’s not the path I ever imagined, I’m doing everything I can to move forward with strength and stability for myself and my two boys.

For the past several years, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom, occasionally working part-time as a preschool teacher when my boys were able to attend school with me. Because of this, I’ve been completely financially dependent on Jon throughout our marriage. Now, with the divorce underway, I’m rebuilding from the ground up — emotionally, practically, and financially.

I recently accepted a full-time job that starts in a couple of weeks, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the independence it represents. As our family transitions into a new phase of life, it’s important for the boys to have two stable, separate homes where they can feel secure and supported. I’m working hard to create that space on my end — something simple, peaceful, and consistent — but getting there comes with upfront costs that I can’t fully manage on my own just yet.

This GoFundMe is a last resort, made necessary by financial limitations during the divorce process and the fact that Jon is not yet legally required to contribute financially. I’m asking for help to raise $10,000 to cover:

• First month’s rent and a security deposit on a modest home — $2,800

• Legal fees to protect myself and ensure a smooth custody and financial transition — estimated between $2,000–$5,000

• Used furniture and household basics — beds, dining area seating (barstools), sofa, and some kitchen essentials — $1,500–$2,000

• Utilities, groceries, and basic living expenses while I wait for my paychecks to begin and for legal financial agreements to take effect

• Moving costs, GoFundMe processing fees, and a small buffer for unexpected needs

Every dollar will go directly toward building a simple, safe, and welcoming home for the boys and me. If any funds remain, they will be used strictly for the children’s needs.

My focus right now is to give the boys a sense of security and normalcy during this big life change.
