My name is Emma and I live with my cousin and her husband. They welcomed me into their home with open arms. They have a large family of three daughters, two sons, and a baby on the way. Recently, we lost water due to a burst pipe. This was during the winter storm, so we all had to stay in a hotel room. The rural water infrastructure is very poor so we often lose water or are issued a boil order. Not only is it frustrating to not shower, brush teeth, or use the bathroom as an eight person home, it has also damaged the carpeting. We had to take out carpeting in the hallway and only two bathrooms are usable now.

With the five children and the new baby on the way, we were hoping to build a well so that we could be guaranteed clean water when we need it. It is very inconvenient to drive into town just to use the bathroom. We have also looked into moving but the kids love their school and their home.
