Hi,

My name is Bridget, and I am starting this fundraiser to raise funds to support my friend Emmanuel who runs an organization in Eastern Congo, near the border with Uganda, working to help educate at risk youth and now providing much needed aid to people fleeing violence.

Our friend Hadija has been raising funds through Tiktok to send to him, and he has been able to use those funds to buy supplies like sanitary pads, diapers, and food. (Aid distribution shown below)

We are creating this fundraiser to be able to increase the amount of supplies he can provide to the community he is taking care of and in case they need to relocate, with the violence in Eastern Congo spreading towards their current location. Emmanuel is providing essential services and opportunities for youth and families through learning different skills, including learning more about technology, and it is crucial that he continues his work in this community. He was teaching a number of students, and he plans to keep supporting this community, even if that means relocating with them.

The community he is serving includes young mothers with infants, who are unable to get access to all of the supplies they need for their children, including necessities like diapers. There is a growing need for support, as violence causes more people to flee.

Currently, Emmanuel is reporting that they are facing violence and displacement from not only the Rwandan-backed M23 militia but also Ugandan military operations, aimed to get access to land rich in resources like minerals and precious metals. He is reporting that many youth and men are going missing, likely being forced into fighting on the frontlines, and many people are being killed, including one of Emmanuel's relatives and his neighbor.

These resources, which have led to the displacement of millions in the DRC, are what power all of our technology, including our phones, computers, and cameras. Please donate what you can to help support this organization which is providing essential support to this community which is being violently displaced so that we can have the benefits of modern technology.

UPDATE August 2024:

We are officially extending our goal to $45k! This additional $40k will be split with $35k towards purchasing more land to enable the organization to stop renting multiple properties to house the community, and an additional $5k to support purchasing additional livestock and seeds to feed everyone.
