Hi my name is Emma West. For the past 20 years, my Thanksgiving and Christmas Day have been spent doing the one thing that brings my heart the greatest joy—serving hot meals to anyone in need here in Monroe, Louisiana. From my yard on South 2nd Street, what began as a simple act of kindness has grown into a beautiful tradition that now feeds more than 150 people each holiday. I never asked for thanks, recognition, or attention. I just wanted people to feel seen… to feel loved… to feel like they mattered.
As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, I’m preparing once again to open my home and my heart. This year, along with hot meals, we will be putting together care bags filled with essentials for those who may be struggling through the cold months. And I want to be clear—this is not just for the homeless. This is for anyone, and I truly mean anyone, who needs a warm meal, a warm smile, or a reminder that someone cares about them. If you’re hungry, you are welcome. If you’re lonely, you are welcome. If you’re hurting, you are welcome. No questions, no judgment—just love, compassion, and a hot plate of food.
Many wonderful people in our community have asked how they can help, and that is why I created this GoFundMe. Every single donation goes directly toward food, supplies, care-bag items, and all the things needed to make these holiday meals possible.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your support helps keep this tradition alive, and together, we are making sure no one in our community feels forgotten during the holidays. Your kindness is felt far beyond what words can express.
