Support Emily’s Fight for Her Son

Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,

I find myself in a challenging situation, and I am reaching out for your support as I seek to ensure the best future for my son. Throughout his life, I have been devoted to meeting his every need, from nighttime care to securing childcare, finding healthcare providers, and making important decisions about his upbringing.

Currently, my estranged husband is pursuing primary custody and seeking significant decision-making power regarding our son's education and healthcare. We previously had a custody plan in place, signed by both of us and a judge, which I believe serves our son's best interests.

I feel horrible and embarrassed to ask for financial assistance, but I have exhausted my options. I work full-time and have tried to make this divorce as simple and fair as possible. However, since my ex has the means to fight me on everything, I must respond with legal representation to advocate for my son’s best interests.

More than anything, I want to express how deeply I love my son. Being his mom has always been my greatest dream, and my life felt incomplete until he was born. I cannot imagine a world where I get to see him less than I already do. Choosing to file for divorce was the hardest decision I have ever made because I knew it could lead to the possibility of him being away from me more. However, I realized I did not want my son to grow up in an unhappy home filled with constant fighting. Every decision I make is driven by my desire to give him the best, happiest, and healthiest life possible.

I want to make it clear that I have no intention of keeping my son from having a relationship with his father. I truly believe that maintaining that connection is important. However, I feel that continuing to be his primary caregiver is in his best interests.
