Support Emily's children with school and housing

Emily Nyirenda was our housekeeper and nanny for our family in Malawi for 2 years. She was a hardworking single mother who diligently saved her money to pay for her 4 children's education and to build a better future for them. Emily began feeling ill in September of this year, and after a series of tests and hospital visits, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November. Tragically, Emily passed away on December 8th.

Emily leaves behind three children of her own and a niece that she was looking after. Mavis (18), Philippina (18), Teresa (14) and Moses (8) are heartbroken, and lost without their mother. They have no family to care for them; their elderly grandmother lives in a small rural village and cannot support them nor provide for their future.

The eldest, Mavis, has finished High School and is waiting her final exam results. She is determined to look after her siblings and provide for them. Our family is currently supporting their living costs, and have helped Mavis find an apprenticeship as a housekeeper and nanny. Mavis would love to be a journalist one day, but for now is happy to be able to learn and work.

We are raising funds to help Mavis and her siblings get settled and become independent. Money raised will go towards building a concrete house on the plot of land Emily bought with her savings, as well as pay for the education of Teresa, Philippina and Moses for the next 2 years - until the girls complete High School.
