Hi everyone! It's me, Ella. I can't believe that I am actually doing this- and just hope that maybe some of you read this all the way through. I know a few times I've mentioned to everyone how I have been working with a student who has Dyslexia. Last April a teacher at the school I volunteer at and sub at gave a parent my information. I'm not even a teacher! I couldn't even believe that someone, especially a professional would consider ME, but here we are. This July was one year since we began tutoring and . I haven't just become a tutor; I've become an advocate. My tutee is more than just a student- her family is now a part of MY family. I've spent hours, months and now a year learning everything I can on Dyslexia and on education and recently took a course in Education through Harvard after learning how many children have Dyslexia. Unfortunately, these children need a special way of learning phonics and until they make this part of the curriculum for educators- we are all just kind of lost and blind in trying to figure out how to help. Why am I trying to raise money for ME?! Well, I've collected an awesome group of kiddos who need help! And their mom and dads need help to! So, I'd love to raise $2500, get trained in Orton-Gillingham (thats how my friends with Dyslexia will learn how to read!!) incorporate more of this into my tutoring and pass this along to moms and dads! Empowering myself so I can empower families! Because it takes a village...and I want my village to feel prepared and confident and strong! Because we can do this! I know we can!!!!
