Hello everyone! Many months ago, Elian (my 10-year-old friend), was in a fire and suffered 3rd degree burns on 38% of his body. He was airlifted to the Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia where he stayed for three months. While he was there, he received 37 surgeries (and counting). His grandma (Deborah) is his primary caretaker. Upon his release from the hospital, the two of them stayed with my family for three weeks while contractors worked to ready their home to meet Elian’s new needs. His medical care is 24-7 and he continues to fly to the burn center for bandage changes and/or surgery every single week. The trips and surgeries are on-going, possibly for the rest of his life.
I have been wanting to do a fundraiser for Elian and Deborah for quite some time, but the timing has not felt right, until now. Our community is rallying to support this family as they continue the road of healing in pursuit of a joyful childhood for Elian. Grandma Deborah and Elian are steadfast with strength, forgiveness, and hope and so much healing has happened over the course of the past 7 months! Warriors! One of the recent challenges that has come up is limited running water at their home due to well damage. The repair cost for the well is estimated at about $4k. We want to come together to alleviate some of the hardships this family has been enduring by asking anyone who has anything to give to please consider contributing to this fundraiser. Even a small gift will help soften and uplift their spirits. This family is incredibly deserving and would appreciate it!
