Hi, my name is Eleanor, I’m 14 years old and I live in the UK.
In July 2027, I have the incredible opportunity to spend 4 weeks volunteering in Costa Rica as part of a school expedition with Camp International.
This trip means more to me than just travelling. I’ll be travelling over 8,500km away from my family to take part in environmental projects that support local ecosystems and communities. It will challenge me in ways I’ve never experienced before — helping me grow in confidence, independence, and character. At 14, stepping so far outside my comfort zone feels both exciting and a little scary, but I know it will shape me into a stronger, more resilient person.
To make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity possible, I need to raise £5,500. I am determined to work as hard as I can to fund this myself. I’ll be babysitting, dog walking, taking on small jobs, running bake sales at my county netball and other clubs, selling my old clothes, and even doing car boot sales. I’m putting in the time and effort because this opportunity matters so much to me.
Further details on what i will be doing on my trip are below:
For a month, the beautiful and biodiverse rainforest will become my home. I’ll be surrounded by monkeys and toucans, living in the heart of nature and working alongside conservationists and local communities to help protect the environment. I’ll learn about sustainable solutions to environmental challenges and take part in projects that support wildlife, ecosystems, and the local community.
It’s an experience I never imagined I would have the chance to do at 15.
I’m not asking for people to fund a holiday — I’m asking for support in helping me grow, challenge myself, and contribute to meaningful environmental projects. Every donation, big or small, truly makes a difference and brings me one step closer to achieving this goal.
Thank you so much for believing in me and supporting my journey. It really does mean the world to me.
Eleanor
