Support Elder Thunderbird Swooping Down Woman

Thunderbird Swooping Down Woman (Darlene Gilbert) is a Mi’kmaw Elder, grandmother, survivor and water protector. She has devoted almost all her time and energy to caring for her community. Teaching, leading, feeding, gathering.

Thunderbird Swooping Down Woman was arrested this morning, along with three others, at the Eisner Cove Wetland.

Supposed offenses include refusing to give her colonial name, and pointing an eagle feather at a cop who was attempting to remove her.

Details are still being confirmed but we know Darlene has not yet been released.

This fund is being created at the request of Kyra Gilbert, kin to Thunderbird Swooping Down Woman's. Support is needed for legal costs as well as healing and recovery.

We will update as we get more information.
