The Holland family, from Fillmore and Ramsey, Illinois, are stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Their 4-year-old daughter, Elaina, faces significant developmental delays due to a brain injury diagnosed as periventricular leukomalacia with cystic encephalomalacia.

While the Shriners are covering her medical care, the family still struggles with daily expenses such as transportation, homeschooling resources, vehicle repairs, and basic household needs. Sarah, Elana’s mother, is caring for both Elana and a newborn while her husband serves in the military, adding to the challenges they face.
