On behalf of Ebony (with her blessing), I am asking for your support for my cousin, Ebony Ballard, and her daughter, Amanda Ballard, as they begin the difficult journey of rebuilding after a devastating house fire. In a matter of moments, everything changed. A fire severely damaged their home, destroying their living room and kitchen and leaving extensive smoke and water damage throughout. They were forced to leave their home with only what they could carry and are now displaced, facing the overwhelming task of starting over.

During the fire, Ebony courageously attempted to help her neighbor escape. Despite her efforts, he tragically lost his life. Faced with an unimaginable situation, Ebony had to make the heartbreaking decision to prioritize her own safety and Amanda's. The emotional impact of that experience, combined with the loss of their home, has been incredibly difficult for them both.

If you know Ebony, you know she has spent years pouring into the lives of young people throughout our community. As the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Washington High School, she has mentored countless student-athletes, encouraging them to believe in themselves, work hard, and strive for success both on and off the court. Her dedication, compassion, and leadership have made a lasting impact on so many families.

Amanda has also made our community proud. A graduate of Parkside High School, she excelled as a Maryland state track competitor before continuing her collegiate track and field career at Campbell University. This fall, she plans to attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to pursue her graduate degree, continuing her commitment to education and personal growth.

Those who know Ebony and Amanda know they are always willing to help others. Whether through coaching, mentoring, volunteering, or simply showing up when someone is in need, they have consistently given back to their community with kindness and generosity. Today, we are asking our community to surround them with that same love and support.

While they wait to hear from their renters insurance, Ebony and Amanda are paying for hotel accommodations out of pocket and working to replace the everyday essentials that were lost. Furniture, household items, clothing, kitchen supplies, and many personal belongings were damaged by the fire, smoke, and water. We have established this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.

Donations will go toward:
- Temporary lodging and hotel expenses
- Replacing essential furniture and household items
- Clothing and personal necessities
- Immediate needs as they begin rebuilding their lives while awaiting the outcome of their renters insurance claim

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to give financially, we ask that you please consider sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and community. On behalf of Ebony, Amanda, thank you for your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support. Your love will help remind them that they are not facing this journey alone.

With heartfelt gratitude,
The Ballard Family
