UPDATE: 6/5/25
I am updating our GoFundMe as needs are changing. Dad is doing pretty darn well considering, which is a miracle!
There are some needs that he is struggling with. As of June 1st, his SSI income dropped to below $700 a month since he will be 65 on Saturday and SS takes money for health insurance.
Earl still has bills and some now to catch up on. He is unable to work due to his head injury (for now) so he isn't able to make up for the loss of wages at this time.
Anything helps, and our goal is to help pay off the high utility bill he has, so he can be at ease with that, and help pay for any bills for the time being. We are grateful and blessed for the support, friendships, and love that we have received during this time. ❤️
As many of you know, my dad, Earl had an accident on Tuesday evening (5/13) that resulted in hospitalization, being in the ICU in critical condition. Earl suffered a severe head trauma, several brain bleeds, and a skull fracture, after falling several feet onto concrete landing on his head. He is lucky to be alive considering how much head trauma he endured. While Earl has been discharged from Mayo Clinic, he has a very long road of recovery ahead. The reality is that his short term memory as well as some other cognitive functions have been effected. We wont know the permanency of his injuries until his brain has healed, but we know that all of this will take time.
My goal to raise money is for not specific to medical bills, but more focused on time spent away from employment, and hopefully getting some resources and things in place for dad this coming week. We are hoping to get him into some supportive living, or a PCA at the minimum.
I also have missed several days of work and will likely continue to miss days as I am needed to help support my dad. I usually don't ask for much, but one less stress to take off all of our plates would be huge.
Anything helps and if you can't help, all I ask for is prayers at this time. He is proof that prayers DO work and his life to me is worth more than any dollar amount ❤️
Earl does have a TBI and will likely need lots of time, patience and prayer while we learn to live life differently now
