Dymtro, known to friends and family as Dima, arrived in the United States on September 30, 2023, through the Uniting for Ukraine program. After being separated from his wife and two children for 18 months due to the war in Ukraine, he was finally able to reunite with them in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dymtro comes from a family of cardiologists in Zaporohzye, Ukraine, but understood that any job was acceptable to support his loved ones. He quickly found work at a manufacturing plant and maintained full-time employment from his first week in the US.

Unfortunately, on September 30, 2025, Dymtro lost his work authorization. Although he applied for his U4U renewal and paid the required fee, immigration processing delays have left him in limbo. Over the past five months, Dymtro has used up his savings to provide for his family of four. Now, he faces the heartbreaking possibility of leaving his wife and children behind to seek work outside the United States, simply to keep them afloat.
