My name is Adam “Dreadhead Cowboy” Hollingsworth, and I grew up in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. Growing up over east, I know firsthand what our kids face every single day: gun violence, lack of opportunities, broken systems, and the constant pressure of just trying to survive. What changed my life was horses. Being around animals gave me peace, purpose, and a path forward when the streets didn’t offer many options. Now I want to bring that same opportunity to the youth in the neighborhoods just like the one that raised me.
I am raising money to buy land in the inner city and build a community barn and youth development center, a safe place where kids can learn, grow, heal, and build real-life skills that lead to real futures. This barn will be much more than a place for animals. It will be a trade and entrepreneurship program, teaching kids skills like:
• Construction
• Plumbing
• Electrical work
• Agriculture
• Horse care & riding
• How to build and run a business
The goal is simple: give kids the tools to become leaders, creators, and their own bosses. The barn will also serve as a community resource center, where families can speak on issues like gun violence, bullying, mental health, and anything affecting our neighborhoods. It will be a place where people are heard, supported, and connected. Kids in Chicago deserve more than the streets. They deserve opportunities, purpose, and hope.
With your support, we can build something that changes lives for generations starting right here in the inner city, starting right here with us. Thank you for believing in this mission and in the future of Chicago’s youth.
