Sister Insider Book Club and Seeding Sisterhood are joining forces to raise funds for a local doula collective that works at the intersection of reproductive health and mass incarceration. The funds will support the collective in its overall mission of locating and working in compassionate solidarity with pregnant and parenting incarcerated people to foster community, provide physical and emotional support, raise awareness of their rights, and much more.
The funds will be especially critical in supporting two major projects that the collective is currently spearheading:
- Legal Guide for Pregnant People Detained by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE): A guide that will outline the range of legal protections entitled to pregnant people detained by ICE, including legal aid from lawyers in the field.
- Herbalism 101 and State Violence Zine: A zine that will provide an overview of the short, medium, and long-term health risks associated with chemical weapons deployed by the state, such as tear gas, pepper spray, and projectiles, as well as the impact of stress from these encounters on our minds and bodies. The zine will also highlight common herbs that can be used to treat and heal our communities.
Help bring these projects to life by supporting the research, design, printing, and distribution of these free resources! Please donate what you can and share with your networks.
We keep each other safe! We're so grateful to be in community with each and every one of you.
