On December 17, our mother, Dori, suffered a heart attack and was transported by ambulance from Redmond to Bend. She underwent an emergency procedure in which a stent was placed. We later learned that her heart attack was extremely serious—a complete blockage often referred to as a “widowmaker,” a type that is frequently fatal. Although it most commonly occurs in men, it very nearly took her life.

Our mother is a single mom who works incredibly hard to support herself and her family. She will remain in the hospital for several more days and will be unable to work for a few weeks during her recovery. This unexpected medical emergency has created a significant financial burden during a very difficult time.
