Our sweetest boy Doobie means everything to us. He is not “just a dog,” he is our family, our comfort, our little soul companion, our everything. He is the one who curls up on us when we’re sad, wags his tail the second we wake up, and fills our home with softness, laughter, and love and kisses.

On Tuesday, October 28th, Doobie suddenly lost the ability to use his back legs. We rushed him to the emergency hospital, terrified, and learned he is suffering from a serious spinal injury (IVDD). Without treatment, there’s a possibility of him never being able to walk again. Hearing those words shattered us.

Doobie is the heartbeat in the home. He is our emotional support, our cuddle buddy, our therapy dog (he’s sat in nearly 5,000 hours of therapy with his mom), our best friend in the truest sense. He has been there for us through grief, illness, anxiety, and every moment life has thrown our way. Now he needs us and we will do everything in our power to help him.

The recommended treatment and surgery to give him the best chance at walking again is extremely expensive (estimated $13,000+), and while we never imagined creating a fundraiser, we also can’t imagine not trying absolutely everything for him. The 5k is for the remainder of the bill that his insurance won’t cover and his PT for rehabilitation.

We hate asking for help, truly, but this little boy is our whole world. If you are able to support in any way, whether through a donation or simply sharing his story, it would mean more than we can put into words. Every single bit of support brings us closer to getting him back to a life where he can walk, wag, and feel safe in his body again.

Doobie is love in its purest form. He is gentle, trusting, joyful, full of life with so much love to give. The true definition of a soul dog. We want to give him the chance to keep living the happy, warm, silly days he deserves.
