Help us reimagine public safety

dontcallthepolice.com/  is a national database of community-based alternatives to calling the police or 911, broken down by city. We provide alternatives to police to help our neighbors in crisis, whether it’s housing, mental health, substances, LGBTQ+, youth, elder care, or crime. Our goal is making these resources easily accessible to anyone who needs help, but doesn't want to risk the safety of their community by calling the police.  Down the line, we hope to help build community-based alternatives to law enforcement in communities where they don't already exist, and work to expand our network of services to ensure that every person, everywhere, has access to help when they need it.

Since the site was founded in June of 2020, it has run on an entirely volunteer and out-of-pocket basis. Donations help cover the costs of maintaining and improving the site, help provide the resources necessary to register as a non-profit, eventually move from a fully volunteer model to hiring interns and staff, and help us continue to grow, to reach more cities, more people, save more lives, and be be as effective as possible, for as many people as possible.

Help us reimagine public safety, build a system of community-based assistance and accountability, and keep all members of our community safe.
