Support Dong Yun and his family to fight for his life ❤️

Hi, we’re Theresa Fette and Scott Bell, and we’re organizing this fundraiser for our incredible friend Dong Yun, who is currently in the fight of his life against stage 4 esophageal, liver, lymph and stomach cancer.

Dong is the devoted life partner of Paula Johansen and a loving father to Max (15) and Stella (10). For everyone who knows them, Dong and Paula are the first to show up—for their friends, their family, and their community. Whether it’s with their time, their resources, or their quiet support, they give generously and without hesitation.

Now, they need us.

Dong is undergoing intensive treatment, including chemotherapy at the Mayo Clinic and alternative therapies that have already led to a 41% reduction in tumor size. The results are encouraging—but the financial cost of this fight is overwhelming. We’re raising funds to ease the burden on their family so Dong can continue treatment without the weight of financial worry.

The Story:

Dong Yun is a steady, humble force—always putting others first, working hard for his family, and quietly making life better for the people around him. Together with Paula, he’s built a home grounded in love, loyalty, and deep connection. Their children, Max and Stella, are growing up with two incredible role models who lead by example.

When someone in their circle is in need, Paula and Dong don’t hesitate. They give. They show up. They go out of their way to help, even when no one’s watching.

Now it’s our turn to do the same for them.

In February, Dong was diagnosed with stage four kinds of stage 4 cancer. He immediately began chemotherapy at the Mayo Clinic—traveling several hours each way—and simultaneously started a regimen of alternative therapies that, though not covered by insurance, are helping. Remarkably, his tumors have already shrunk by 41%.

The fight is far from over, but there is real, tangible hope.

However, the financial strain is intense. Dong is the family’s primary breadwinner, and his paid time off is running out. More missed work means unpaid time, and the costs of travel, treatment, and basic living expenses continue to mount.
