Help Rebuild Our Family’s Homes After Hurricane Melissa

Hello everyone,

My name is Donette Latty, and I’m reaching out with a humble and hopeful heart. I was born and raised in Clarendon, Jamaica, but I now live in North Carolina, where I work as both a teacher assistant & hairstylist.

Recently, my family back home in Clarendon and especially in St. Elizabeth suffered severe losses from Hurricane Melissa. The storm devastated our community, tearing apart homes, flooding roads, and leaving many without food, clothing, or shelter. One of my family homes was completely destroyed in St. Elizabeth. A portion of my roof in Clarendon was severely damaged, leaving my home open to heavy rainfall and further destruction. My husband also suffered a great loss, as his cousin tragically passed away during the hurricane.  

This fundraiser is for my nieces, cousins, and my young grand-nephew, who are now displaced and trying to rebuild their lives from the ground up.

I’m raising $15,000-$20,000 to help my family and community recover. Every dollar will go directly toward:

• Rebuilding damaged homes and replacing destroyed roofs

• Purchasing clothing, food, and household necessities

• Supporting family members who have lost everything and need a safe place to live

Though I’m far away from home, my heart is still in Jamaica. My family and I are doing everything we can to restore what’s been lost, but we can’t do it alone.
