Kia ora koutou,
Many of you know our beloved Hori and her long-standing battle with her weight. Her resilience has always been an inspiration.
However, on May 15th, Hori faced a life- threatening crisis. She was rushed to Gladstone Hospital battling carbon dioxide poisoning, with her heart, lungs, and kidneys dangerously full of fluid.
Upon admission, Hori weighed 269.8 kg. Her medical team has given her a critical goal: to reach 185-190 kg by October/November for necessary bariatric surgery. We are incredibly proud to share that she has already made remarkable progress, now at 215 kg, with her goal firmly within reach!
To provide the full-time care Hori needs, her devoted mum. Aunty Jean, has had to step away from work. This dedicated care will continue throughout the pre-surgery period and for weeks following the operation, placing a significant financial strain on the whanau.
This fundraising page has been created to support them through this challenging time. Your generosity will help cover essential costs such as:
• Accommodation near the hospital during Hori's 3-week post-op stay
• Daily living expenses like food and petrol
Household bills including mortgage and utilities
Every contribution, big or small, will make a profound difference to Hori and her whanau. Thank you for being a part of her journey and for your incredible support.
