Support Dominic's Journey to Better Mental Health
Donation protected
Hello, Jason and Carla Rittscher are needing help to get over a big hurdle in their life's journey with their 11-year-old son, Dominic.
Dominic was recently diagnosed with an ultra-rare genetic disorder called SCN8A which causes developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, limited communication skills, and autism. Dominic has also been diagnosed with ADHD, an Intellectual disability, and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder).
Over the past few years, Dominic's behavior has become harder and harder to deal with and manage on a day-to-day basis. Dominic frequently has episodes of extreme verbally and physically abusive behavior. As this began to take a big toll on the entire Rittscher family, Jason and Carla began to reach out to any and all resources they could find in Mental Health Care system.
For the past couple of years, Jason & Carla have been repeatedly told that Dominic does not qualify for a lot of Mental Health Care programs because his IQ is too low and the treatment would not be effective.
Up until recently, they have not been able to find any answers or help that could point them in the right direction. Amazingly, Dominic has been recently accepted into a Severe Behaviors treatment program at the Monroe Meyer Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Finally, a treatment program willing help Dominic regardless of his disabilities!
Here is where they need our help to make this work. Unfortunately, the program is in Omaha, a 2-hour drive from where they currently live. The program will be 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 3 to 4 months. To make this work, Carla will be quitting her job and temporarily moving to Omaha so she can get Dominic through this critically needed treatment program.
This is a big financial shortfall for the Rittscher family to lose an income during this time. They will also have extra living expenses to cover for Dominic and Carla's living arrangements during his Severe Behaviors treatment program. Your donations will be used to relieve this shortfall and cover any extra living expenses they will have.
They know at a Minimum of $2,000 per month shortage in lost wages, compounded with the cost of additional living expenses, travel expenses and the costs and toll it takes on a family by having a split household.
Even if you aren't able to financially contribute, Please pray for the Rittscher family that this treatment program will be the answer and path to a much needed peaceful life with their son Dominic and the rest of their family.
