Hello my name is Tenneesha and I was born and raised in Jamaica in a hospital called Cornwall Regional Hospital. This is my reason for creating the Gofundme. Hurricane Melissa has left so many displaced and wondering how they will move forward. Each day, I wait anxiously for updates about my family and the nearby communities a constant reminder of how much community truly matters.
While large organizations have announced support, many small towns like Mount Carey, Anchovy, Montpelier, Westmoreland, and Lilliput may never receive the help they desperately need. These areas are often overlooked due to their location, but they are home to hardworking, loving people who have lost nearly everything.
This GoFundMe is for them. Every donation will go directly to families in these communities, and I will personally share updates and photos showing exactly how your contributions are helping.
I remember growing up in Jamaica, waking up one night to find my home flooding — the water rising to my knees. The government didn’t come. Foreign aid didn’t come. It was our neighbors and family abroad who helped us survive.
Today, I’m asking for that same spirit of compassion and solidarity.
Please, help my people. Every dollar, every share, and every prayer makes a difference.
Thank you for standing with Jamaica during this time of recovery and rebuilding.
