In May 2025, I had the opportunity to travel to the Eastern Cape to work with the South African Red Cross. The province suffers from acute poverty, a fragile public healthcare system, and experiences a high rate of catastrophic natural disasters. Organizations like the South African Red Cross are integral to the survival of millions within the province; however, the organization does not have the resources to address the growing burden of disaster and poverty. Carolina for the Cape seeks to address this disparity by supporting the people who work on the frontlines in the province. Donations will support flood victims experiencing poverty.
