My name is Essence! I’m creating this campaign on behalf of my Mother as a last resort in the midst of the work she is continuing to do. Below is her story from her words.

“This isn’t the easiest message for me to write — asking for help has never come naturally. But sometimes, life humbles us and reminds us that community truly is a form of grace.

Earlier this year, my household shifted in ways I never expected. My former partner, who had been handling rent and bills, left suddenly — leaving me solely responsible for supporting the household. I’ve been actively searching for work before this took place, taking on small freelance opportunities, and doing everything I can to keep us stable.

Despite my efforts, we’re now at a breaking point. Our rent is past due and must be paid by Monday 11/10/2025, the latest early Tuesday, or my family and I risk losing our home. My son recently started a new job and is eager to help once he receives his first paycheck, but right now, we need a bridge — enough support to keep a roof over our heads while I continue job hunting.
