Dignity for All Older Adults in PA!
Tax deductible
It’s urgent… Nearly 21% of older adults in Philadelphia live below the federal poverty line. There were 53,873 reports of elder abuse in Pennsylvania last year, a 21% increase from the previous year. Nearly $200 million is lost annually due to Medicare Fraud, scams, and abuse. There are too many older adults in our community who have no family, and no one to help them.
When older adults need resources CARIE has answered the call for more than forty years. CARIE extends assistance and advocacy to every older adult, caregiver, and family member who calls, diligently investigating Medicare Fraud claims, providing counseling to crime victims, counseling Medicare beneficiaries on the most cost-effective coverage, passionately advocating for residents of nursing homes, and more.
Just last month, an older man living in a nursing home in Montgomery County called CARIE -- this man lost his teeth and had been on a pureed diet for over 3 months. Loss of dentures and long replacement times are dangerous for older adults, causing malnutrition, comorbidity threats, loss of dignity and independence. CARIE’s long-term care Ombudsman advocated for the man to receive proper dental care and assessment and helped him to return to his normal day-to-day life.
Join us to ensure that services like our Ombudsman and Victim Advocacy are available to every person who needs them. CARIE’s mission is to promote the well-being, rights, and dignity of older adults through advocacy, education, and action. You can make a difference today by making a gift to CARIE’s Dignity for All Fund.
