Support Dexton's Light : Roses for our Youth.
Donation protected
In 2022, we lost my beautiful son Dexton, who fought hard to win his battle with depression. It isn’t uncommon in our youth anymore and has led to many families in our situation! Since then His flower story has gone viral, and for 2 years now, we’ve been able to give over 9 schools roses to hand out to the young women. We have the young men take a few roses and give to all the girls in their school. It’s such a beautiful thing to see all the smiles and beauty it brings! This year we want to go even bigger! Our youth are hurting and struggling and this project brings joy and happiness to our youth in so many ways that Dexton made sure to always do! Help us bring joy to their hearts, if even for a day!
Dexton was always a light to everyone around him! If you knew him, you always felt loved and never left without a smile. In 5th grade, on Valentine’s Day, he was so worried that many girls would feel left out on this special day. He asked for us to bring flowers to his class, one for every girl! That day, he brought endless smiles to teachers, parents, and many of his fellow girls in his class! It has held such a special place in all their hearts, that the first Valentine’s Day without him, those same girls showed up on my front porch, each with a single rose and a memory of my sweet boy. We all cried, smiled, and laughed as each memory was read and each flower was added to my vase of roses. From that day forward, we created Dexton’s Light Project, where each year we raise money to bring a rose to the girl in schools across the state! We’ve received so much love and amazing feedback from this project that we want to continue to make this bigger each year! Last year we raised enough to give over 9 schools roses. Every $1.50 donated gives 1 girl a rose! Keeping Dexton’s light alive by bringing smiles and love to all who need it most, OUR YOUTH!
