Boy Scouts of America
Troop 44 Haddam
Greetings,
My name is Devin Weems and I am currently an Eagle Scout Candidate for Troop 44, Haddam, CT. I began my scouting journey when I was 5 years old. Currently, I am a Life Scout and have completed my merit badges. My long journey is now at the point where I am working toward the highest and most honorable rank in Scouts, that of Eagle Scout.
To earn the Eagle rank, I must plan, develop, and provide leadership to others in a service project helpful to the community. For my project, I have chosen to help a nonprofit organization, A Place Called Hope. This rehabilitation center heals injured, orphaned, or ill birds and then returns them to the wild. This facility is also an education center for birds of prey. They are in need of a few benches. I am planning on making three benches to put along the walk, butterfly garden, and in the center of the aviary for visitors to learn and enjoy the birds.
It is a large project that will require many hours of labor and approximately $1600 in material. I am requesting donations to fund material for the construction of this project. Any contribution you can offer to help me achieve my goal will be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small; all is appreciated.
The project is to provide a space for visitors to rest and to accommodate all ages. The project is three 5’ 9” x 18”. I am planning on using composite boards for the top side and composite legs for longevity. The boards will be fastened with wood screws.
Thank you in advance,
Devin Weems
