Support Detained Mother of Four and her Family
Donation protected
UPDATE: Araceli was released a few weeks ago on bail. However, soon after her mother was detained by ICE during another immigration check in. Please continue to support the family during these times.
On Wednesday, May 14, Araceli accompanied her elderly mother to a routine immigration check-in at the ICE office in Camarillo, California.
Araceli and her mother have been lawfully seeking asylum in the United States since 2009, after enduring a series of violent attacks on their family in their home country. This was meant to be a routine appointment. However, soon after her mother went in, Araceli was questioned by ICE agents. After explaining that she has four children, they indicated that her mother would take care of them and detained her. Araceli was not given the opportunity to speak with her mother or any other family member before being arrested.
She was immediately transferred to a detention center in Arizona, where her family reports she has not been receiving proper meals. The arrest was sudden, traumatic, and destabilizing for her young children and loved ones. We, as VC Defensa, are supporting the family and want to help them in urgently trying to raise funds to:
- As we prepare for her first court hearing, we are asking for support with bail money to relieve the financial stress and
- Cover basic expenses for the family
Araceli's family has fought for years to seek safety. Please consider donating what you can and sharing this campaign with others.
Thank you.
