Support Derek Hanson's Final Journey Home

Asking for your help to bring Derek Hanson's ashes back home to his loving family.

On May 9, 2025, Derek, 37, died unexpectedly in Port Vila, Vanuatuan Island by Australia.

Derek was a young man who loved and enjoyed life. He was happiest when out hiking and exploring areas most of us only dream to see. The beauty of Vanuatu's landscape, blue waters, and simple lifestyle is what attracted him to this area. Little did he know that only a month after arriving there, his life would be cut short.

Derek needs to be brought home and unfortunately, this will cost way more than an average family can afford. So, we are calling on family, friends, and others that enjoy the freedom of being out on the trails and being one with nature to help.

Derek's body has to be flown from Vanuatu to Australia to be cremated, and then his ashes will be flown home. His father, Rick Hanson, has been told this will cost around $25,000. Then there is the cost of a funeral and services.

If for some reason you would prefer to donate directly to the family, please message me (Debbie Siburt) or Donie Yeager, and we will make sure it gets to Derek Hanson's father, Rick Hanson and his family.
