As some of you may already know, my father-in-law, Dennis Lyons, was recently diagnosed with leukemia. This was a shock to our families as he initially went into the ER several weeks ago for what ended up being something unrelated. But this is how he found out the leukemia diagnosis. Dennis has been at the James Cancer Hospital and is being treated with several antibiotics, chemo, and blood and platelet transfusions. This will be a long road to recovery full of ups and downs, but he is mostly in good spirits. To know Dennis, to some better known as Pops, is to love him. He loves his grandkids, family, and friends and shows up countless times to support them. He’s a man of few words with a heart of gold. He is a friend, husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and brother. His sons: Jim, Dan (my husband), and Kyle, as well as his wife Mari have been by his side daily making sure he is getting proper care and support at the James. They have all spent countless hours at the hospital keeping him company (and getting him to take his meds and eat). We are praying daily and trying to stay optimistic. But for Mari, it is a lot of gas, mileage, parking fees, high pharmacy costs for necessary meds, and not being home to be able to cook meals right now. She has never once asked for help during all of this as she is usually the one doing the giving to others. That’s just who she is. But I know how tough it is not only mentally, but also financially, to go through something like this. So I am asking for your support. If you are able to donate any amount during this difficult and long journey, it would be so gratefully appreciated. And if you are unable to donate, that’s ok too. I just ask that you please send up prayers and positive vibes for Dennis as he would do for any of you. All donations will go directly to Mari Lyons. Thank you and God bless.
