At our neighborhood potluck last month, Mike, who's a Denfeld grad class of 1977 (also known as Gina's dad), proposed a fun, creative and empowering community project: a student-designed billboard to elevate a message of hope and resistance in the midst of fascism, corporate takeover, and the violence and fear driven by Trump's domestic army, ICE.

In January, students at Denfeld High School organized a walk-out to protest ICE immediately after an ICE agent murdered Renee Good of South Minneapolis. (Check out the local news coverage of their walk out.) Mike was moved by the students' leadership and shared his idea to spread the students' message as we enter a big election year in Minnesota. Everyone at our March potluck dinner said, heck yes! How can I help?!

So, we connected with a few more neighbors, the student organizers that led the walk-out Cesi and Aina, and a local ad agency. And we're making it happen.

Please chip in so we can secure two billboards in West Duluth along Grand Ave that will amplify the Denfeld High School students' message of "you are welcome here" now through November.
