Delainey has battled migraines for about 4 years now, some that would last 11 days at a time. She started seeing a neurologist over a year ago. This last migraine started around January 4th, 2025. She went to get some IV fluids to try and help on January 10th after no relief (which sometimes she would do for her migraines). That's when she started having double vision. After no change in her vision, her mom called her neurologist Monday to get her seen as her next check-up wasn't until May. During her appointment on Wednesday, her neuro doctor sent her to the downtown children's hospital where she saw an ophthalmologist who then sent her to get an MRI of her brain, which showed a golf ball-sized tumor, craniopharyngioma.

Craniopharyngioma is a slow-growing, rare, histologically benign brain tumor affecting children between the ages of 5 and 14 and older adults. The tumor is growing into both sides of the brain and affecting the third ventricle. Its location is extremely close to two major arteries in the brain. We don’t have all of the answers yet. Biopsies will be taken on Monday during surgery to determine the next course of treatment.

She got her braces off Thursday so additional scans could be done. Friday, January 17th, 2025, surgery number one was successful. They placed an external drain in her head in order to decrease the fluid on the brain and manage the hydrocephalus better. She is scheduled for a lengthy brain surgery on Monday, January 20th. She’s currently still in the ICU and unable to have visitors besides immediate family members.

I created this support page to raise money to help both of her parents with expenses for at least the remainder of January while she is hospitalized. We are taking one day at a time and putting all of our faith in God’s hands. Delainey has been, and always will be, the light that shines in a dark room. She is resilient beyond her 10 years.
